How to Get from Orlando Airport to Disney

As a luxury transportation tour guide with over a decade of experience serving travelers in Orlando, I’ve noticed how tricky it can be for tourists to navigate the best way to get from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Disney World. Getting into the Disney bubble is where the magic really starts, and having a smooth journey there can really set the stage for your whole vacation. In this guide, I’m excited to share insights from my 10+ years of experience helping families, couples, and solo adventurers explore transportation options from budget-friendly shuttle buses to the luxurious comfort of private car services so you can find the perfect choice for your magical journey.
While everything might be simply Magical once you’re in the Disney World bubble, tourists are left on their own to figure out how to get from Orlando Airport to Disney. In this piece, we’ll cover some of the possibilities, evaluating them by price, convenience, and complexity along the way.

There are lots of different transportation from Orlando Airport to Disney World options including car rental, Lyft, Uber, and Orlando Airport Shuttle.

Best Transportation from MCO to Disney

There are 3 main options for getting from Orlando Airport to Disney World if you’re not renting or bringing your own car:

  • A shuttle bus

  • Uber or Lyft

  • A private car service

Bus Shuttle from MCO to Disney World

While everything might be simply Magical once you’re in the Disney World bubble, tourists are left on their own to figure out how to get from Orlando Airport to Disney.

In this piece, we’ll cover some of the possibilities, evaluating them by price, convenience, and complexity along the way.

Mears Connect

  • Wait time: Up to 20 minutes to board for standard, with minimal wait for express. The website doesn’t give an exact time for your arrival.

  • Mears Connect and Sunshine Flyer have merged into “Mears Connect Driven by Sunshine.”

  • This option can be cheaper than Uber (depending on the size of your party) and you might be more comfortable with it. But it’s less convenient, and once you get to three or more riders, the price will start to be comparable to Uber.

Uber / Lyft from Orlando Airport to Disney World

Uber is our first choice for getting from Orlando Airport to Disney World. Another service is Lyft, but we use it less often; essentially, all we say here also applies to Lyft.

Once you download and set up the Uber app and find yourself at the airport, you may open the app and enter your destination. Should you not be at the airport or another location from which you are being picked up, you can change the pickup location, say for instance, if you wish to view sample pricing.

Along with expected pickup and drop-off times, the app will show you how much the several services will cost to get you to your destination—the basic choice is Uber X. Signs at MCO indicate ground transportation from the airport to Disney World.

Uber is often really handy; pick-ups normally just take a few minutes (unless late night), and you are transported straight to your resort. Should your arrival call for a room assignment, you may even have the driver drop you off near your room.

If you have never used Uber, you could find it unsettling to consider paying a stranger outside of the conventional taxi/private car scene. For that, we can say very nothing other than we have most likely utilized Uber around a hundred times across different nations without any noteworthy problems.

Cost Considerations:

  • A typical price from MCO to Disney World is around $40 (before tip), but the cost isn’t fixed.

  • If you arrive at a peak time (remember when you’d see those unbelievably long lines for Magical Express?) you might see a surge up to $60, $75, or in the rarest of cases even $100.

  • If you have a child under 2, or if you have multiple children in need of car seats, you’ll either have to bring your own car seat or use a different option.

Private Car Service to Disney World

This is the option we go with. I’m admittedly not the best traveler, so when guests get off the plane, they just want to go. Enter: private car service.

Away We Go – My Favorite Option!

  • Wait time: None

  • Cost for van (including car seats/boosters as needed): $189 + 18% gratuity automatically added

  • Pros: Immediate pickup, direct route to your resort, and car seats included in the price (!). Fits up to 12 people. Text communication with flight tracking.

  • Cons: More expensive than the shuttle option.

Cost for SUV with car seat: $246 (avg. depending on the vehicle)

  • Pros: Immediate pick up, direct route to the resort, car seat/boosters available, private & indoor pickup location. Personalized 1:1 service with email and text communication. We have used them in the past and have been impressed each time!

  • Cons: More expensive. Would need multiple cars – or a limo! – for a large family or lots of luggage.

Simply put, your decision to rent a car at Walt Disney World should not be largely dictated by the need to get between the airport and your hotel. If that’s all you really need, any other option here is better.

You might want to rent a car if you’re staying off-site, want to go to Universal Orlando Resort, or have some other good reason. But Signature Transportations is a good choice if you want a smooth, comfortable, and quick ride to Disney World. Our private car service offers a stress-free experience with professional chauffeurs, luxury vehicles, and no waiting time, ensuring your journey starts with comfort and convenience.

Taking a Taxi from Orlando Airport to Disney World

As mentioned in the summary, I haven’t taken a traditional taxi in the United States in years. Since the fare is metered, you won’t have to worry about surge pricing, but you should expect the ride to cost $60 to $80 without a tip.

The Orlando International Airport website has all the information you need on taking a taxi. Here are some highlights:

  • Taxis are at Terminal A on the Ground Transportation Curb (Level 1) in spaces A22-A25.

  • Taxis are at Terminal B on the Ground Transportation Curb (Level 1) in spaces B30-B34.

  • Taxis are at Terminal C on the Arrivals Curb (Level 6).

All taxicabs picking up at the airport are regulated by the City of Orlando’s Vehicle-for-Hire ordinance, which requires fares to be determined by a taximeter. Flat rate fees are not authorized.

Car Seat Law in Orlando

Car seats are the main issue parents attending Disney World find concerning. If you rent one, or bring one, are you really in need of one?

Basically, Disney World’s given transportation buses, monorails, boats, and the Skyliner allow you to skip a car seat.

Florida law also says that paid car services like taxis or shuttles do not require car seats when it comes to driving about. While some households are at ease with this, others are not.
